Pharmaceutical

Numerous production processes in the pharmaceutical industry require sampling of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) or Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PI’s) to protect operators from absorbing and inhaling hazardous ingredients.

Exposure analysis is typically conducted with samplers (inhalable, total or respirable) and pumps to collect the API or PI onto a filter. The filters are then sent to internal or 3rd party labs for testing with highly sensitive and accurate analytical instruments. Multiple samples need to be taken and the results from lab testing can commonly take weeks before they are available.

Real-time, personal particulate exposure monitors

Pharmaceutical sites around the globe have leveraged Nanozen’s DustCount, a real-time powder monitor with an internal sampling filter. Nanozen’s optical particle counter (which can be calibrated to the specific API or PI), excels in situations such as short term exposure monitoring, rapid assessment of control changes, and as an efficient tool to develop, qualify and select the best practices. In additional to real-time readings, the DustCount’s internal 25 mm filters can be used for side by side testing as well by sending the filter to an accredited analytical laboratory for validation studies.

Particle Distribution

Nanozen’s DustCount combines the advantages of real-time dust monitoring with the ability to do the standard method, all in the industries smallest and lightest optical particle counter. The DustCount also provides particle distribution on every sample.
